My mercury's on retrograde

It's already 8:05 am in the PH and I am still wide awake. I should really get some sleep, especially since I'm hosting a very late birthday party tonight and I'll probably be up and about 'till the earlier hours of Sunday. However, my body clock has managed to betray me by refusing to re-adjust to my usual school term sleeping hours. After an entire night/wee hours of the morning watching films such as The Wackness and Better Off Dead (a 1985 dark comedy which I strongly suggest for 80's teen flick lovers who have yet to see it. John Cusack was such a hottie. On second thought, he's totally rocking the DILF title even at present), attempting to play old school Snakes and Ladders by myself and reading Salman Rushdie's "The Satanic Verses", I remain alert and completely upbeat. In my heart of hearts, or better yet body clock of body clocks (???), however, I really am tired and would like to get some shut eye.

...About said very late birthday party, the party theme calls out for me to wear something neon. I'm wearing a neon yellow dress which I got on sale at this store called Tango about a year ago. It's obnoxious and great, and I use these two adjectives to describe the garment mainly because of its color. My fellow celebrants (it's a joint affair between me and three other friends) may have had some difficulty coming to terms with the neon attire, but I just love fluorescent, highlighter colors. However, I'm having trouble with two things: a.) the cut of the dress. For one, it's sleeveless. I never really expose my ginormous arms so that's an issue for me. Plus the cut of the dress is a play on this whole flapper+ice skater outfit lovechild thing. It's not a cut that suits me well, and it's obviously something I wouldn't usually wear, and b.) deciding on the right shoes. Since I immediately decided to cross out silver and later on decided that white was too safe, I'm down to either my predictable grey Charles and Keith heels or these Juan wedges with a 5 inch platform. The Juan wedges have become my loves since I purchased them over the Christmas break. Although they can be rocked with most of the things in my wardrobe, I don't know if the color of the cork platform and this one brown strap (the middle one is black and the bottom strap is in grey) might be too monotonous and "off" for the loud-colored dress.

I need help figuring this one out while dressing up. The things is I'm not sure about whose opinion to ask for since my usuals aren't going to be there during the prep time for the party. There's always my beloved, butttt Butch is probably the least opinionated boyfriend ever when it comes to outfits, makeup and the like. Ugh. I have to come to a decision in the next few hours. Maybe I'll take a picture before I leave the house. If there's one valuable thing I learned from fictional Beverly Hills betty Cher Horowitz (Clueless), it's that you can never trust mirrors and opinions. Only photos are completely credible. Always take a picture of an outfit, and clarity will follow. HAHA...

...I know it may seem extremely trivial and ridiculous to some, but shoes are arguably the most important part of any ensemble. They can make or break everything else in an outfit, which is why it's key to make the best footwear decisions possible. I swear even I'm kind of LOLing at myself right now for sounding like such a ditz, but this is a DILEMMA (oh God humiliating typo, sorry :[ ) I'm taking seriously and which I'd like to resolve ASAP. What to do, what to do!

If only I could be as secure with my clothing and shoe decisions as my idol Rumi. She rocked a neon yellow Topshop dress (reminiscent of Tinkerbell!) not so long ago and paired them with the most unexpected yet awesome boots. The outfit totally worked; she looked phenomenal, as she perpetually does.

Before I try to get at least an hour or two in, I leave you with the visual of that genius pairing :

I can only pray that my outfit ends up looking like that. Sighhh.
Wish me luck. :P
